Marta Kostyuk secured her first WTA Tour main draw win by beating home favourite Antonia Lottner in straight sets in Stuttgart.
Kostyuk stormed through qualifying at the Australian Open to reach the third round of the season’s first Grand Slam.
She beat Lottner 6-4 6-1 to advance to the second round of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, where she will next face either Maria Sharapova or Caroline Garcia.
Kostyuk has revealed that Novak Djokovic is the player she has always admired and joked that he would like to marry him.
‘When I was growing up I didn’t really have idols,’ she said on court after her victory.
‘I loved to watch Novak Djokovic. ‘Until I was nine, I thought he was going to be my husband. ‘He wasn’t really like who I was looking for, because we’re not the same with the styles,’ she said.
