Jan Vertonghen could be on his way out of Tottenham at the end of the season, as the player’s contract with the clubs ends in the summer.
The 32-year-old has been in and out of the team this season due to his poor form.
Fans believe the club will not extend a contract with the former Ajax player.
His former club could be a potential destination for him and boss Erik ten Hag spoke out on a potential swoop for Vertonghen.
"Jan has a history at Ajax. Of course, we are following his situation very closely, but you also have to look at the position in which someone plays," he told TV channel Ziggo, as reported by Sport Witness.
"If that comes together, the availability and the position in which he plays, then he is an option."
With Ajax having quite a young team, the Dutchman was asked if Vertonghen's age would be an issue given that he turns 33 in April.
"There is no question of any age limit here," he added. "If someone is good enough, it doesn’t matter how old he is."
