Anthony Martial urged to "up his game" and follow Edinson Cavani

Dimitar Berbatov has urged Manchester United forward Anthony Martial to step up his game and follow the example set by veteran teammate Edinson Cavani. Martial’s only two goals in all competitions have come in the Champions League, but the 24-year-old was guilty of squandering several key chances in United’s damning 3-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night. In the meantime, summer signing Cavani has impressed since moving to Old Trafford on deadline day with three goals in just 126 minutes of Premier League action. And former Red Devils striker Berbatov urged Martial to look towards the 33-year-old for inspiration. "Anthony Martial also missed a couple of good chances in the match [against PSG], he needs to up his game," Berbatov said. "I was thinking about him and there were fans messaging me on social media about him asking what is going on with him and why he isn’t producing and scoring goals. He needs to up his game, not only him but the whole team too. In the really important games he need to shine even more. "I’ve been surprised with how well Edinson Cavani has performed, the guy is 33-years-old and he’s running around the pitch like he’s a 25-year-old, fighting for the ball, making spaces. "The passion he had is still there and that is something that Martial needs to look at and improve on. He needs to bully defenders and get dirty from time to time."
