Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has reportedly asked Edu to sign Barcelona star Riqui Puig when the January transfer window opens.
The midfielder has been considered surplus to requirements over at the Nou Camp having struggled under Ronald Koeman. However, Arsenal aren’t alone in wanting the youngster, with AC Milan also admirers.
The Gunners have endured a difficult Premier League season so far, amassing just 17 points from their opening 15 matches, and Arteta his eager to improve his side. There’s no chance of Mesut Ozil being restored to the starting XI anytime soon and, as a result, a creative midfielder is being eyed.
And, as
Sport claims, Arteta has asked Edu to sign Puig on loan. The 21-year-old has struggled for minutes at the club following Koeman’s appointment of manager and, as a result, a loan move could be on the cards.
Puig’s contract at Barcelona expires at the end of the campaign. And both Milan and Arsenal are keen on securing his signing on loan.
