Reports from Brazil claim that Arsenal have won the race to sign Ituano forward Gabriel Martinelli.
Martinelli has scored 10 goals in 31 games for Ituano and even had a trial with Manchester United back in 2017.
United rejected their chance to sign him, but it now seems that he could be heading to Arsenal.
According to
Yahoo Esportes, Arsenal have beaten 25 other teams for Martinelli’s signature after reaching a verbal agreement for the sought-after teenager.
Arsenal have agreed to pay around €6million (£5m) for Martinelli. Palmeiras, Flamengo, Leeds United, Middlesbrough and Barcelona were among the clubs also interested in the striker.
Martinelli’s agent, Marcos Casseb, recently admitted that the attacker had plans to join a top European club. "To be honest we expected this to happen," Casseb told Globo Esporte when asked about the growing interest in Martinelli.
