Arsenal receive offer for starlet as clock ticks down for contract decision

Arsenal have received an offer from Swansea City to take Folarin Balogun on loan for the rest of the season. Balogun is one of the most promising youngsters. However, his future at the club is in doubt. The attacker is out of contract at the end of the season. According to Football Insider, Swansea have asked for Balogun on loan. They had been close to signing Michael Obafemi from Southampton on similar terms, but an injury has now put that deal on hold. Therefore, they are looking at alternatives. Balogun has scored two goals from five senior appearances for Arsenal. While his contract is expiring, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta remains hopeful that he will be able to keep hold of Balogun for the foreseeable future. “We are having some discussions with the player,” Arteta said. “He knows that we want to retain him at the club. We know the length of his contract at the moment is an issue, but we are trying to resolve it in the best possible way. He said to me he wants to stay at the club so hopefully, we can reach an agreement and extend his contract.”
