Aston Villa lost £111.78m as they were promoted back to the Premier League, according to the club's financial statement of 31 May 2019.
The statement also confirms the wages have risen 16% to £7m, with turnover dropping 20% to £51.4m due reduction in parachute payments. Villa have also paid £30m to American former owner Randy Lerner, following their promotion from the Championship, that was part of Tony Xia's purchase of the club in 2016.
The financial losses have risen, with the club current co-owners Wes Edens and Nasser Sawiris spending about £250m since they bought the club from Xia in 2018. In spite of the losses, Villa feel the situation can be solved following the arrival of former Liverpool chief executive Christian Purslow.
It is anticipated that the club will break in this financial year and Dean Smith's squad's every member is thought to have a relegation clause in their contract. The accounts also show that The Lions were facing an unfair dismissal claim.
Dean Smith's side are sitting on the 19th place of the Premier League table in the relegation zone.
