Atletico Madrid handed huge injury blow ahead of Chelsea clash in the Champions League

Atletico Madrid have been dealt with an injury blow, as Jose Maria Gimenez will miss the upcoming Champions League clash with Chelsea. The clubs are set to face each other on February 23, in the first leg of the Champions Laegue round of 16 in Bucharest, Romania. Atletico's centre-back Gimenez has struggled with injury this season, missing a large chunk of the season due to a thigh injury, and he will now miss up to another three weeks, according to Marca. Although, he is scheduled to return well ahead of the second leg with plenty of time between the two games. The second leg, at Stamford Bridge, will not take place until March 17, giving the Uruguayan defender plenty of time to get back to fitness and up to speed.
