Newcastle United are set to sign Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho if the Saudi Arabian takeover is completed. According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona ready to sign a deal with the Magpies.
Saudi Arabia crown prince Mohammed bin Salam is closing in on a £300m takeover this summer. While Newcastle are looking to bring ex-Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino to St James' Park, their blockbuster deal could be Coutinho.
The Brazilian international has struggled in Spain, since his move from Liverpool in January 2018. Coutinho spent this season on loan to Bayern Munich but they are not expected to sign a permanent deal.
Therefore, Barcelona are desperately searching around to find a club who will take his wages off their bill. And Mundo Deportivo claim they see Newcastle as the ideal candidate.
This season so far, Coutinho has made 32 appearances, has scored 9 goals and has created 8 assists. The player has also been linked with a move to Manchester United and Chelsea.
