Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn has admitted they had tried to sign Erling Haaland last summer.
The Norway international was heavily linked with the move away from Borussia Dortmund back in 2022, with a number of top European sides being interested in the player's services.
The forward ended up joining Pep Guardiola's Manchester City and currently enjoys his time with the Citizens competing for a historical treble.
“We tried everything for Erling Haaland one year ago and went to our financial limits," Kahn told Sport Bild about Haaland's failed transfer to Bayern.
“We had to decide: do we want to break our wage structure? We weren't ready for that. That's not Bayern-like,” he added.
