Ben Jacobs's verdict on Tottenham's prospects of signing Serie A stars as Harry Kane replacements

Tottenham are exploring potential signings to fill the void left by Harry Kane's potential departure before the summer transfer window closes.

According to insights from Ben Jacobs in his exclusive column on CaughtOffside, there is a calm and measured approach within the club, rather than a sense of panic to secure a deal quickly.

The pundt evaluates various attacking options for Spurs, with a particular focus on potential targets from Serie A.

Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan emerges as an enticing possibility. On the other hand, Jacobs expresses a degree of uncertainty about the feasibility of a move to acquire Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus.

In addition to these options, the journalist highlights that the North Londoners might also consider Jonathan David from Lille, while Gift Orban, a rising talent from Gent, is also mentioned.

Despite his potential, Orban might not be fully prepared for a transition to one of the top Premier League clubs at this stage.

However, replacing a player of Kane's caliber presents a challenge, but of the prospects considered, the Argentine is seen as the most favorable option, even though Inter are presently standing firm on not selling him

“Tottenham aren’t panicking about replacing Harry Kane. Ange Postecoglou has brought a real sense of calmness to the club. The new Spurs boss has impressed to date with his level-headed attitude,” Jacobs said.

“Spurs are going to be busy between now and when the window shuts because they have some outgoings to resolve to ensure the squad side is manageable.

“Spurs would love Lautaro Martinez, but Inter have been telling suitors all summer he’s not for sale. And I don’t think Spurs will move for Dusan Vlahovic either despite some summer links.

“I can still see Spurs adding a striker in the final days of the window but the question is whether they save some of that Kane fee in order to take their time for a flagship signing in the windows that follow, or spend big now.”
