Ben White has admitted that it was hard work playing a 0-0 draw against Liverpool with Arsenal down to ten men for the vast majority of the contest.
Granit Xhaka was sent off in the 24th minute of the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final at Anfield after making a foul Diogo Jota on the edge of his box.
But Gunners were resolute and defended excellently, not allowing the Reds to register a single shot on target despite controlling the lion's share of possession.
When asked by Sky Sports how they dealt with 10 men, White said:
"It’s not ideal is it. There is so much fight in this team and it showed today. We dug deep and got the result that we needed.
"I don’t know [if it's a red card], he’s [Xhaka] looking at the ball and he doesn’t know where the man is but it is what it is and the boys did well today.
"Trying not to concede. It’s hard enough to come here with eleven men and to get one sent off straight away is not good but absolutely superb from everyone today.
"It’s not easy at all especially against a team like Liverpool, it’s tough. You have to concentrate the whole game and a bit of luck we had and the result was well deserved I think.
"Yeah, that was terrible. It’s nice to defend like that as a defender and to keep the clean sheet and go home with a point in the next game."
