Chelsea have made an offer for Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, according to Cadena Ser. Frank Lampard is keen to sign a new goalkeeper this summer after losing faith in Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The Spaniard was replaced by Willy Caballero for the Blues’ final game of the season against Wolves. Ter Stegen is considered one of the finest goalkeepers in the world and his ability on the ball appeals to Lampard.
Barcelona, on the other hand, are keen on extending ter Stegen’s current deal, which expires in 2022. However, the club warned the German earlier this month that he needs to drop his wage demands due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Barcelona’s desperation for a renewal is not matched by ter Stegen’s camp and the German has offers on the table from both Chelsea and Bayern Munich to consider. Chelsea are ready to test the waters in their search for a new number one.
