Chelsea assistant manager Gianfranco Zola is set to leave the club after the departure of Maurizio Sarri. Sarri has managed the Blues just one year and left them to join Juventus after Massimiliano Allegri resigned at the end of last season. With Zola’s contract as assistant manager at Chelsea expiring this summer, Sky Sports News reports that he will not be offered a new one. The Chelsea legend has been offered a position as club ambassador after his legendary spell as a player at the club from 1996-2003, but he wants to remain in coaching so has turned it down. "It’s football, no? During a season you can have good moments or bad moments," Zola told Chelsea’s official website. "What is important is always believing in your work and always giving your best. That’s what we did. "Fortunately the players believed in what we were doing, they helped us a lot, and we went through all the problems and difficulties that we had. We are all here celebrating and I think we deserved something." Frank Lampard remains the favourite to replace Sarri and he is expected to bring his backroom team to west London.
