Chelsea are preparing a shock raid on relegated Watford, with the Blues reportedly considering Ben Foster as a bargain replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga. The Blues record signing has endured a difficult campaign, making several errors before being dropped for the final three games of the season.
Frank Lampard is believed to have lost faith in Kepa completely and wants to sign a new goalie. Jan Oblak and Andre Onana linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
However, Chelsea will struggle to spend big on a new goalkeeper. Therefore, according to the Sun, Chelsea are considering signing Foster as a cheaper alternative instead following Watford’s relegation to the Championship.
The 37-year-old has a huge experience and would compete with Caballero for the starting role, with Kepa sent out on loan back to La Liga. But Chelsea face plenty of competition for Foster, with a number of clubs keeping tabs on the former England international including Everton.
