Chelsea are set to make a bid to sign Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure on transfer deadline day.
Following their 4-0 shocking defeat to Bournemouth Maurizio Sarri continues to insist that they need a replacement for Cesc Fabregas.
Chelsea were meant to sign Serie A star Nicolo Barella and Zenit Saint Petersburg midfielder Leandro Parades but deals fell through and now the Blues need a new name to replace Fabregas.
Chelsea will need to work quickly to seal a deal and convince a reluctant Watford as Douncoure’s form attracted many top clubs’ attention.
The window closes at 11pm tonight and Watford have Doucoure tied down at the club with a contract until 2023. But Doucoure’s desire to play for a big club might help Chelsea.
