ON THIS DAY: Liverpool FC was formed

On this day, in 1892, Liverpool football club was formed by John Houlding and William Barclay. Since then, the club has become one of the most successful ones in the world, with 18 domestic titles and 5 European/Champions League titles. Club’s most successful periods were under Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley, Kenny Dalglish, Gerrard Houllier and Rafa Benitez. Merseyside club is popular all over the world for the famous ‘Istanbul Miracle’, when they managed to come back from 0-3 against Milan in Champions League final.
