Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford with Paris Saint-Germain among interested clubs.
However, the Spaniard is set to sign a new deal with United worth £97.5million which will make him the highest-paid goalkeeper in the world.
De Gea is likely to put pen to paper on the lucrative new deal when United return from their pre-season tour of Australia and the Far East, with the new agreement likely to be for five years.
The 28-year-old joined United from Atletico Madrid in 2011 for £18.9m and has since emerged as the best goalkeeper in the world, proving his enduring worth despite the team's recent struggles. Speaking from Perth on the club's pre-season tour United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was positive De Gea wil remain at Old Trafford.
“David’s had a summer now where he’s been negotiating and thinking about his contract, so we hope that we’re going to get it sorted soon,” said Solskjaer.
“I’m positive. Of course, with David, I’ve said many a time how lucky I am, and how happy we are, to have him in the goal. So we hope he stays here for many years.”
