Diego Maradona taken to hospital after Argentina beat Nigeria

Just minutes after Argentina beat Nigeria 2-1 in the World Cup, former Barcelona and Napoli star Diego Maradona was taken from his seat and helped into his private box. The footballing legend looked agitated throughout. He was nearly to fall asleep when he gave a disgraceful two-fingered salute after Marcos Rojo’s late winner. Reports in Argentina claim Maradona was then taken to hospital but sources at the ground say he was treated at the stadium's medical centre. On BBC1, Gary Lineker said: "Maradona's in danger of becoming a laughing stock, I'm afraid." Rio Ferdinand added: "His career as a football player on the pitch was up there with the best, but unfortunately there are moments like this that do arrive.
