Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ready to offload up to eight players at the end of the season as he overhauls his squad.
The Red Devils have three in, three out policy. But it set to be jettisoned as Solskjaer will make sweeping changes even if he can claim a Champions League place after Tuesday’s defeat at Wolves left United adrift of the top four.
United are through the quarter-finals of the Champions League and are in a desperately tight race to qualify for next season’s competition.
One player United are determined not to see leave is goalkeeper David de Gea. Solskjaer will not be forced into selling De Gea this summer — even if United fail to agree on a new contract with him.
According to Daily Star, Solskjaer to axe eight stars. Who they are?
Antonio Valencia
- Joined: July 1, 2009
- Contract Until: 30.06.2019
- Market Value: £6.30m
- Clubs Interested: Arsenal, West Ham, Inter Milan, a club from China and MLS
Club captain looks certain to leave after a decade at United having not played since early January.
Marcos Rojo
- Joined: August 20, 2014
- Contract Until: 30.06.2021
- Market Value: £13.50m
- Clubs Interested: Everton, Wolves
Rojo has made four appearances since being lined up for a move to Everton last summer.
Matteo Darmian
- Joined: July 11, 2015
- Contract Until: 30.06.2019
- Market Value: £9.00m
- Clubs Interested: Juventus, Inter Milan
Darmian has failed to secure the return to Italy he wanted in the summer. The 29-year-old has played only six times this season, and only twice under Solskjaer.
Ander Herrera
- Joined: July 1, 2014
- Contract Until: 30.06.2019
- Market Value: £25.20m
- Clubs Interested: PSG
Herrera is out of contract at the end of the season. United have been speaking to his agent for 18 months, but the wage demands have prevented contract extensions from being agreed and time is now running out.
Juan Mata
- Joined: January 24, 2014
- Contract Until: 30.06.2019
- Market Value: £22.50m
- Clubs Interested: Arsenal, Barcelona
Mata, as like Herrera is out of contract at the end of the season. His wage demands have prevented contract extensions from being agreed and time is now running out.
Eric Baily
- Joined: July 1, 2016
- Contract Until: 30.06.2020
- Market Value: £27.00m
- Clubs Interested: Arsenal, Tottenham
Baily has had a difficult campaign in which he suffered the indignity of being substituted in the first half against Newcastle and Paris Saint-Germain.
Alexis Sanchez
- Joined: January 22, 2018
- Contract Until: 30.06.2022
- Market Value: £40.50m
- Clubs Interested: Juventus
United are also open to letting Alexis Sanchez leave after a dismal season-and-a-half at Old Trafford if that is Solskjaer’s wish, although the player’s £500,000-a-week wages would be an obstacle to finding another club.
Fred
- Joined: July 1, 2018
- Contract Until: 30.06.2023
- Market Value: £31.50m
The Brazilian has endured a tough time during his first campaign in the Premier League. Under Jose Mourinho, Fred hardly got any game time and Solskjaer has obviously preferred the likes of Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera.
