Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has given Manchester United's Erik ten Hag a taste of his own medicine by using his comments to encourage the Magpies ahead of the clash with the Red Devils.
During the Premier League season 2022/23 Howe guided Newcastle into glory, reaching a Top 4 position in the league table for the first time since 2003. Bu doing that, the Magpies earned their ticket to the Champions League in the upcoming season.
Being one of the best comes with enemies, and Newcastle United renewed their rivalry with Manchester United last campaign. After losing 2-0 to the Red Devils at Old Trafford, the Magpies' head coach used a part of ten Hag's speech to motivate his team ahead of the return leg at St' James Park.
Following are the Dutchman's words that Howe read aloud to his squad: "They have the lowest ball in play time in the league, and are quite successful at slowing the game down. It's an annoying team to play against, so we have to find a way to play against them. So it is up to us that we get the speed in the game, and we are also dependent on the refereeing as well."
Frustrated with such acknowledgments, the 45-year-old encouraged his team to give their opponents a quick game and.
"Let's f***ing give it to them. Let's blow them away with our running, let's be intense in every action we do, let's make it a quick game. Let's go," highlighted Howe.
