Manchester City have announced the new contract of Bernardo Silva on Wednesday evening, confirming the midfielder's commitment to the club through a one-year extension until at least the summer of 2026.
According to journalist Matteo Moretto, the Portuguese star's fresh contract incorporates a release clause valued at €58.5 million. Although the exact activation date of this clause remains undisclosed, it's plausible that it could take effect in the upcoming summer.
The contract ensures that the 29-year-old's status aligns more closely with the team's top earners. Over the past couple of summer transfer windows City's maestro has expressed interest in departing from the Etihad Stadium.
However, following the renewal, Silva shared his thoughts with ManCity.com:
“I’ve had six incredible years at Manchester City and I’m delighted to extend my time here.
“Winning the Treble last season was extremely special and it’s exciting to be part of a squad where there is such a hunger and passion. Success makes you want even more, and this Club gives me that opportunity to keep on winning.
“I love the manager, my team-mates and the fans and hope we can share even more great memories in the coming years.”
