Liverpool have suffered a blow ahead of Wolves clash as Virgil van Dijk will be serving extra match ban following his red card against Newcastle.
The Reds faced the Magpies in the Premier League and celebrated a 2-1 win on August 27. The Reds were 1-0 down before Darwin Nunez formed a double and helped them to secure the win.
However, a few minutes after the Magpies goal, Virgil van Dijk was sent off for a challenge on Alexander Isak which denied him a goalscoring chance.
He has already served a ban as he missed the Reds win over Aston Villa before the international break.
However, the defender has now been given an extra match ban and has been fined for £100,000 after admitting he acted in an improper manner and used abusive and insulting words towards a match official.
His return is now expected to be against LASK in Europa League group stages on Thursday, September 21, 2023.
