Liverpool surge ahead of Chelsea in bid to secure PL talent as medical scheduled for today

Liverpool are edging closer to securing the services of Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo.

According to a report from The Athletic, the Reds have successfully negotiated an agreement with Albion to acquire the player for a fee of approximately £110 million.

While the London outfit had also shown interest in the 21-year-old, they made a bid of up to £100 million. Brighton, however, opted to sell to the highest bidder.

Although the transfer deal is in progress, Jurgen Klopp's team have yet to finalize personal terms with Caicedo. It remains to be seen whether they can complete all formalities in time for the player's scheduled medical evaluation, set for Friday.

In the wake of Fabinho's departure to Saudi Arabia earlier this summer, the Merseysiders were in dire need of a top-notch defensive midfielder. Their efforts to rebuild the midfield have been notably successful, with the notable acquisitions of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and now Moises Caicedo.

However, this collective addition might position the team for a strong challenge in the upcoming season's title race.
