Manchester City's £70m opening bid to West Ham for Lucas Paqueta is expected to be rejected, according to Globo.
David Moyes' side is yet to address the bid, but the indications are that the Citizens' first offer will not come successful. As the new Premier League season is just around the corner, the Hammers would prefer to keep Paqueta in their team for as long as possible.
Ever since his £51 million move from Lyon to the English side, the Brazil international has met the high expectations cast upon him. He has scored 5 goals and made seven assists in a total of 41 appearances. Consequently, Paqueta was integral in the Hammers' success in Europa Conference League.
The London club has is the only Premier League side that is yet to make an addition to their squad, despite selling some of their key players, including club captain Declan Rice.
Guardiola has reportedly expressed a desire for further reinforcements as Manchester City aims to safeguard their three championship titles from the previous season. The potential acquisition of Paqueta from West Ham could also serve as a substantial advantage for Manchester City as they prepare for the upcoming season.
