Newcastle United have set its sights on a potential summer transfer for Crystal Palace standout Marc Guehi.
According to sources close to Football Insider, the manager Eddie Howe is determined to bolster his squad after securing Champions League qualification for the upcoming season, aiming to strengthen the team's depth following their impressive fourth-place finish in the 2022-23 campaign.
The 22-year-old has emerged as a primary target for the Magpies, thanks to his stellar performances with the Eagles throughout the previous season.
However, it appears that acquiring Guehi's services will come at a considerable cost, as sources suggest that the South London club is demanding a hefty fee of around £60 million, a price tag that may play a crucial role in determining his future.
Palace's valuation of the defender has reportedly been influenced by his recent breakthrough with the England national team.
Since making his Three Lions debut in March 2022, the talented ace has earned four caps under the guidance of manager Gareth Southgate, including an appearance in England's qualifier victory over Malta last month.
Having made a total of 82 appearances for Palace since his £20 million move from Chelsea in 2021, Guehi has established himself as a key figure in the club's defensive line.
The Ivory Coast-born defender is currently earning a reported weekly wage of £50,000, with his contract set to expire in June 2026.
