Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has picked Liverpool's best XI in Premier League history.
The Reds are enjoying the current season, leading the league table with 83 points. Jurgen Klopp's side are on their way to win the league title since 1990. Amid the clubs' success in the 2019/20 season, Rooney has included seven current Liverpool players in the all-time Premier League XI: Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson, Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino. The remaining four players are the English professional's former rivals he played against: Jamie Carragher, Xabi Alonso, Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez. Rooney admitted that Carragher was a key player and a leader alongside the club captain Steve Gerrard. He also shared his opinion on Liverpool's Mo Salah, saying: "Mo Salah is starting to do what Ronaldo did for Manchester United, in terms of just being there and not really getting back to defend but always being a threat so that if you're a defender or midfielder playing against him. You're terrified of him on the counterattack." When picking Luis Suarez over Fernando Torres, the United legend added: "Luis Suarez, for me, is one of the best strikers in Premier League history. I know he wasn't there long but he was the start of a change in mentality in Liverpool, bringing passion and fight — and maybe nastiness sometimes — but certainly a winning edge. He was a great goalscorer and I loved watching him." Here is Liverpool's best XI in the Premier League history, according to Rooney. Image Source: GIVEMESPORT
