"Not collapsed": Fabrizio Romano says Manchester City are still interested in 21-year-old "quality" player

Gabri Veiga's potential move to Manchester City not fallen through, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Last month, there were reports of City joining Liverpool and Chelsea in the race to sign the Celta Vigo midfielder, who has a release clause of around €40m (£35m) in his contract. However, there have been no recent updates on the club's interest in the 21-year-old player, despite talent scout Jacek Kulig describing him as a "quality" player.

Romano explained in The Here We Go Podcast that Manchester City have been primarily focused on negotiations with RB Leipzig for a possible transfer deal involving Gvardiol in the past few weeks. As a result, Veiga's transfer talks might not have been a prominent topic for the club recently.

“Not collapsed but City have different priorities," he said, as quoted by Manchester City News.

"[Josko] Gvardiol, a winger because Man City are hoping to keep [Riyad] Mahrez at the club but Mahrez is going to Al-Ahli so that’s why they’re now focused on winger and a centre-back.”
