Talented Brighton striker Evan Ferguson won't be available for the Republic of Ireland's Euro 2024 qualifying matches against France and the Netherlands due to an injury.
The young forward sustained a knee injury during Brighton's 3-1 victory over Newcastle. Despite his impressive performance, scoring a hat-trick in that game, he won't be leading the Irish attack in the upcoming matches.
The Football Association of Ireland confirmed Ferguson's unavailability after an assessment by their medical team.
The Seagull, who has an impressive record of 10 goals in 24 Premier League appearances for Brighton, has earned six caps for the Republic and scored his first competitive goal against Gibraltar in Dublin in June. Missing him in the squad is going to be a blow to the country's hopes of qualifying out of the group stage.
