Opta's Supercomputer has provided its prediction for the upcoming match between Aston Villa and Manchester United, set to take place on Sunday, February 11, 2024.
The two teams are currently separated by just two places in the league table. If United, under Erik ten Hag's management, can secure a victory at Villa Park, they might re-enter contention for a UEFA Champions League spot, a prospect that seemed unlikely just a few weeks ago.
Aston Villa have enjoyed a strong home record this season, although recent away wins by Newcastle and Chelsea have slightly dented their form under Unai Emery. Ollie Watkins has been particularly impressive for Villa, with 38 goal involvements in 47 league appearances under Emery, showcasing his importance to the team.
On the other hand, United boast an in-form striker in Rasmus Højlund, who has scored in four consecutive top-flight matches. This remarkable turnaround comes after a slow start to his scoring record in the competition, making him the youngest player to achieve such a feat for the Red Devils.
Despite the Supercomputer finding it difficult to separate the two teams, Aston Villa hold a slight advantage with a 39.2% chance of winning compared to Manchester United's 32.1%.
However, the possibility of a draw stands at 28.9%, setting the stage for an intriguing and closely contested match.
Supercomputer's prediction on Aston Villa vs Manchester United
- Aston Villa win - 39.2%
- Draw - 28.9%
- Manchester United win - 32.1%
