Kyle Walker recently signed a new contract with Manchester City, extending his stay at the club until 2026.
This development is undoubtedly positive for Pep Guardiola, as the Englishman is a vital presence both on and off the field for the team.
In light of this, the defender has expressed his desire to assume the role of the club's permanent captain, especially since a captain has not been chosen following the departure of Ilkay Gudogan earlier this summer.
Speaking via Football Daily, the 33-year-old Walker has expressed his desire to become the club's armband in the future:
“It’s an honour to have that armband following some of the players that wore it in the past. Off the back of a treble-winning season to then go and captain the club for the first time and win the Super Cup, I felt very proud of myself.
“The vote is going to come in and the lads will determine who they want to be their captain for the foreseeable season. I wish whoever it is all the success, hopefully, it is me, but we will see what happens there.”
