Eric Dier ready to solve Tottenham’s long-term problems in defence

Tottenham star Eric Dier is ready to solve Tottenham’s long-term problems at centre-back. The 24-year-old is understood to be open about moving back into defence, the position he arrived in four years ago. Mauricio Pochettino last played Dier at centre-back on the final day of last season when Spurs edged a nine-goal thriller with Leicester. Using him as a centre-back would boost the Spurs boss’ options at the back, with the Argie coach happy using a three or four-man defence. Dier has played a large chunk of his 138 Premier League appearances in a deep-lying midfield role.
