Erling Haaland names Virgil van Dijk as the toughest defender he has ever faced

Erling Haaland has named Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk as the toughest defender he has ever faced. The two players have played against each other three times. The first two meetings were during the Champions League matches between the Reds and Red Bull Salzburg. The most recent time Haaland faced Van Dijk was in the World Cup qualifiers between Norway and The Netherlands. "You know how tall he is, how strong he is and how fast he is, and also the timing is crazy," the Haaland said of Van Dijk to ESPN. "I don't think I won one duel against him because he's a physical monster." Earlier Borussia Dortmund star already shared his thoughts about the defender, saying: "I do not really fear anyone, I think he is the best defender. I think quite a few others in the room [at the press conference] agree with me on that. "He is fast, strong and 'bad' smart, and there are three important things you must have. I have played against him twice, I have said that he is the best I have met."
