EURO 2020: Italy vs Switzerland: Preview, Predicted XI & Prediction

EURO 2020 Group Stage Matchday 2!

Italy are set to welcome Switzerland in their second Euro 2020 game on Wednesday at the Stadio Olimpico, Rome. The Azzurri picked up a thrashing 3-0 win over Turkey in their opening game on Friday with Merih Demiral (OG), Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne all marking their names on the scooresheet. Meanwhile, Switzerland played a 1-1 draw with Wales on Saturday, as Kieffer Moore netted the equaliser after Breel Embolo's opener. Italy have won six out of their last six matches, while Switzerland picked up only one draw, and five wins. Ahead of the match Italy head coach Roberto Mancini said: "There is always some tension [in the air before a big match] and it's fair enough. This is an important game and we have a great deal of respect for the team we are facing. Especially in attack, they have players who can change a match in a moment. We could change some players but it does not change our team. We have 26 players here and they can all play at this level. I remain confident that Italy are one of the best teams in the tournament." While Vladimir Petkovic, Switzerland boss added: "We certainly created many chances [against Wales]. We perhaps should have finished off one or two of them. It's disappointing, but we're not too displeased with our performance. Against Italy it will be a very different match." Here are the predicted lineups. Italy Starting XI: Donnarumma; Florenzi, Bonucci, Acerbi, Spinazzola; Barella, Jorginho, Locatelli; Berardi, Immobile, Insigne. Switzerland Starting XI: Sommer; Elvedi, Schär, Akanji; Mbabu, Freuler, Xhaka, Rodríguez; Shaqiri; Embolo, Seferović. Italy will play at Rome, as mentioned, and will obviously have a a psychological advantage and our prediction is that the home side will pick up a 2-0 win.

Prediction: Italy 2-0 Switzerland
