Arsenal vs FC Porto Prediction - 12/03/2024 - UEFA Champions League

In six memorable encounters spanning three seasons, Arsenal and Porto renewed their rivalry in the Champions League Round of 16.

Mikel Arteta's side have a tough task to fulfill as they suffered an away game in the first leg. Now, as the return leg is scheduled to take place in London, the Portuguese side's away form is currently mixed as they have played two defeats, two wins, and one draw in their last five away games.

At the Emirates, the Gunners have currently celebrated four wins and suffered one defeat. The history between these two teams dates back to the group stages of the 2006/07 and 2008/09 seasons, followed by a clash in the 2009/10 last-16.

Across these meetings, the Premier League outfit faced a curious pattern; failure to secure an away win but dominance on home turf. The 2006/07 season witnessed a 2-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium, fueled by goals from Thierry Henry and Alexander Hleb, while the away leg ended in a goalless draw.

In 2008/09, the Gunners' dominance was evident with a resounding 4-0 home win featuring braces from Robin van Persie and Emmanuel Adebayor. However, they stumbled with a 2-0 away loss later in the group stage.

In their last but not least, the 2009/10 last-16 meeting saw the North Londoners recover from a 2-1 defeat in Portugal with a commanding 5-0 triumph at the Emirates.

As Arsenal and Porto gear up for their second and the most decisive Ulast 16 clash, recent form suggests the Gunners enter the matchup as top favorites.

Predicting the outcome based on past performances, a closely contested away leg might be anticipated. However, considering the English giants' recent form, they are poised to secure a convincing win ultimately making it easy to advance to the next stage.
