Football Insider: Liverpool reportedly considering January deal to sign Bayern Munich star

Liverpool have reportedly targeted Bayern Munich centre-back David Alaba for the January transfer window, according to Football Insider. 

The Reds are looking for new defensive options, following Virgil van Dijk's long-term injury he picked up during Merseyside Derby with Everton. Joel Matip and Fabinho are also currently out of action due to injuries. The report claims Alaba's contract expires at the end of the season, while he has failed to sign a new deal with Germany champions. Liverpool will be given the chance to go for the player's signing in January ahead of a free transfer in the summer.
