Liberia president George Weah made a surprise return to international football. He turned out against Nigeria just a few weeks before his 52nd birthday.
George Weah led Liberia’s attack in a 2-1 defeat to the Super Eagles.
The match was arranged in his honour and the former World Football of the Year stunned the crowd by leading out his side on Monrovia.
Weah had last played international fixture 11 years ago.
Former Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille star Weah became Africa’s first and only Ballon d’Or winner in 1995.
