Formula 1 returns to Hockenheim this weekend for the German Grand Prix. Germany hosted its first Grand Prix in 1926 and has held the event 77 times since at three different venues; the Nurburgring, AVUS and Hockenheimring.
Michael Schumacher is tied with Lewis Hamilton for most wins in the event with four. However, Rudolf Caracciola holds the record of most wins with six German Grand Prix.
Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel heads to this weekend’s F1 looking to settle some scores in his home race but it’s also Mercedes’ home Grand Prix. The German brand is the title sponsor of the race at Hockenheim, the team celebrating its 200th start in F1, and it is also the 125th anniversary of motorsport.
So far this season the Mercedes drivers have won nine of the ten Grand Prix, only Max Verstappen of Red Bull has broken the chain of a winner.
Hamilton is the bookies’ favourite to win the German GP. The circuit suits the characteristics of the car. He is followed by Bottas.
