Liverpool are preparing to face Ajax in the Champions League on Wednesday, October 21. The Reds and Ajax have been placed in Group D along with Atalanta and Midtjylland.
Ahead of the Reds away clash against Ajax, Glen Johnson has made his Champions League prediction for Jurgen Klopp's side.
"I'd imagine Ajax away will be the hardest game of the group, and to do it so close to the loss of Van Dijk will mean that everyone knows they're going to have to bring their A game," Johnson told Mirror.
"[The Van Dijk injury] is fresh in everyone's minds, so this will be the biggest opportunity for them to prove that they don't just rely on him.
"Everyone's questioning whether they're going to be the same team without him, so it's going to be in everyone's minds that they're going to want to prove a point, so you'd rather have that mentality going into the toughest game than maybe wasting that energy on the weaker sides.
"At this level its a bit more like international football, and you have to have centre-halves that are good and composed on the ball because teams will show you respect, so they won't be pressing all the time from the front.
"You need players at the back who can set the game up, and I think Fabinho can certainly do that because he's very good on the ball, so I think that will play into their hands in the Champions League, even though they'd much rather have Van Dijk."
