Former Liverpool star Graeme Souness has suggested that he has been disappointed with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain since he arrived at Anfield from Arsenal. The midfielder signed for Liverpool in 2017 making a £35 million move from the Emirates Stadium.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has failed to hold down regular football under Jurgen Klopp, largely used when the boss opts to shuffle his pack. Souness confesses he’s a fan of the England international but admits it’s time he stepped up.
He told Sky Sports -as per The Express:
“I’m a big fan. He’s different to what you’d regard as the first three, the three who generally start who are all working, really aggressive types – Milner, Wijnaldum, Henderson, Fabinho. Whatever mix, they’re all solid.
“He’s more of a flair player, he gives them something different. When I think of him, he’s been there for three years, but he hasn’t really started to get going. That’s what I feel with him.
“I like him, I think he’s got great qualities but I still feel I’m waiting for him to put a run of games together. I want to see him running games and really showing what he can do. He’s a player who can get you on the edge of your seat.”
