According to Pep Guardiola, Manchester City’s medical team is working 24/7 to keep their vital striker Erling Haaland fit for the season.
“We have incredible doctors and physiotherapists; they are behind him every second of the day,” said the Citizens’ manager making a reference to the player’s 16 missed games due to injuries at his former club Dortmund.
The 22-year-old Premier League hotshot has set a single-season record for any player in league with his 45 goals in all appearances for the Sky Blues.
The Spanish head coach said that keeping Haaland fit is crucial, given his packed schedule of games every three or four days and his physical measurements. “It’s so demanding, with nutrition, rest, sleep, food... We know we have to watch him because he’s so big. The physios take care of him; he is massaged — his back, shoulders, tendons, everything,” said Guardiola, about the 6 feet 5 inches tall player.
Tonight, the Premier League runners-up will face Leicester at Etihad Stadium.
