Harry Maguire says he modelled his game on Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand. Moreover, he picked him out as his dream centre-back partner at the club.
The current Red Devils captain has had a very firm first season at Old Trafford. He has developed a partnership alongside Victor Lindelof.
The England international was asked in a fan’s Q&A which former Manchester United player he would most like alongside him at the back and Ferdinand was his choice. And he said, Rio Ferdinand was a player he looked to mould his own game around growing up in Yorkshire.
"I think that is a tough question because there are so many excellent defenders that have been at this club, loads that I have looked up to and built my game around," Maguire told the official Manchester United website.
"I would go with Rio Ferdinand. I have always spoken highly about Rio and the way that I looked up to him when I was younger. ‘I tried to model my game around him and I learned so much from watching him, so I will go with Rio."
