Chelsea are confident they are close to signing Manchester United starlet Angel Gomes, according to the Mirror. The 19-year-old midfielder has recruited super-agent Pini Zahavi who is understood to have held talks with Blues transfer chief Marina Granovskaia.
Gomes deal at United expires at the end of next month and has rejected a new deal worth £30,000-a-week. United remain hopeful of tying the midfielder down to a new contract.
However, Gomes wants regular first-team football. He has made just six first-team appearances for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this season. While Lampard remains a massive fan of promoting youth at Stamford Bridge.
“I’ve seen it over the years, coming up from the academy and being at United my whole career,” Gomes said during a Google Hangout on the club’s official website. “It’s what I want to go on to do – win trophies for the club.”
So how Chelsea could line-up with Gomes?
