"I am told Daniel Levy’s concerned" - Journalist issues Spurs transfer update

Duncan Castles has been speaking on the latest episode of The Transfer Window podcast and has provided update on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg amid links to Tottenham Hotspur and Everton. Hojbjerg looked likely to leave after announcing his lofty career ambitions to become a Champions League winner. The 25-year-old has entered the final year of his deal, meaning Southampton have had to bring their valuation down. Spurs have been in talks with the Saints for nearly two weeks now as they look to finalise a move for the Danish international. Yet the saga is continuing to rumble on despite Southampton’s desire to offload Hojbjerg this summer. Castles said: “We told you a while ago that Hojbjerg at Southampton was [Jose] Mourinho’s preferred option to strengthen the midfield, actually a priority signing for this summer. Everton have made an offer to Southampton for Hojbjerg, who is also of interest to Manchester City. “I am told Daniel Levy’s concerned that the fee for the player is accelerating upwards. He was hoping to get him on the cheap because Hojbjerg only has a year of contract left at Southampton; Southampton need money in, but Everton and Manchester City’s interest has made that more complicated for him.” So, it seems that chairman Daniel Levy is worried about the fee that Hojbjerg might cost Spurs this summer due to interest from other clubs.
