Ian Wright has weighed in on the Champions League winner prediction, choosing between Manchester City and his former club, Arsenal.
With the competition set to resume soon, there's much anticipation. Manchester City, the current titleholders, will face Copenhagen, while Arsenal will take on FC Porto.
The Champions League holds immense significance in club football, with Manchester City clinching the trophy last season, marking their first-ever triumph. This season, they're considered favorites along with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
Despite Arsenal's historical quest for the title, Ian Wright doesn't believe they'll win it this season due to a perceived lack of ruthlessness. He believes Manchester City will retain the title, expressing his preference for his former club to win but highlighting the need for a more clinical approach in front of goal.
Wright emphasized the importance of taking chances and sealing games effectively, acknowledging Arsenal's defensive improvements but stressing the need for sharper finishing.
“I’d love Arsenal to win it. If we got there in the final with City, I’d feel more confident," the pundit said, via TBR Football.
“You’ve got to be more ruthless with the chances. You’ve got to see games off so that you can relax in games. At the moment, we’re not taking those chances even though in the end we won the game."
