Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis said he felt betrayed by Maurizio Sarri. Sarri took the role of the manager at Chelsea in 2018, after spending three years at Napoli.
The 61-year-old did not win any trophy with Napoli, but came close to Serie A title in his last season. De Laurentiis was perhaps unhappy for having to appoint another manager.
He told Corriere dello Sport: “Maurizio Sarri betrayed me, left Napoli with the vulgar excuse of money, he still had two years of his contract. I bet on him when he was the coach of Empoli and this is the true story of his departure from Naples.”
The former banker won the Europa League trophy for Chelsea, his first major silverware as a manager.
