Jordan Henderson told Virgil van Dijk to keep hold of the captain’s armband when coming on in the final minutes of Liverpool’s victory over Southampton. Henderson was named on the bench in Red’s 2-1 victory at St Mary’s. Van Dijk wore the captain's armband in his place. Henderson came off the bench in the final few minutes. Van Dijk gestured to the player that he would take off the armband but the English midfielder batted away Van Dijk, telling the Dutchman to “keep it”.
