Metro.co.uk informs that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has contacted David De Gea to find out why Spain manager prepared to axe the goalkeeper.
De Gea made a huge error for the second goal of Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick in Spain opening match of World Cup and now team's head coach was considered dropping De Gea and promoting Athletico Bilbao’s Kepa Arrizabalaga.
‘He’s my boy,’ Mourinho told RT last week. ‘It hurts me to say but he knows, he knows, it’s a bad mistake. ‘But that happens to the best, the good thing with the best is he will be there next match, not afraid.’
Although De Gea had an excellent season in Manchester United, the majority of Spain fans want to see the 27-year-old dropped. Even there was held a poll in AS revealing that 50% of their readers want to see him axed.
