Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has spoken out on Dele Alli after the player was left out of the squad to face Southampton. Spurs celebrated a 5-2 win over Southampton as Son Heung-min scored four, while Harry Kane provided all four assists and scored the last goal for Tottenham.
Alli played against Everton in Tottenham's first Premeir League game but was substituted at half-time. The 24-year-old was also left out of the Europa League squad to face Lokomotiv Plovdiv in midweek.
And his omission from the squad to face Southampton, reports suggested that Ligue 1 side PSG have shown an interest in signing Alli.
"I'm not responsible for the market," Mourinho said in his post-match press conference.
"I'm not able to answer your question on that. I can only say I left eight players behind training.
"They are a big group and Dele was among this group. The same way a squad is a puzzle and in the same way so is the bench.
"I cannot have three wingers and a number 10 and then no defender.
"Dele stayed out but probably Tuesday he will play.
"I want a balanced squad. Yes [Alli can be part of a balanced squad], he doesn't have to be sacrificed."
