Jose Mourinho has hinted that Gedson Fernandes could play as a right-back this season, after the midfielder's impressive game against Ipswich Town.
Spurs celebrated a 3 -0 win over League one side in Saturday's pre-season friendly clash, while Gedson played as a right wing-back, filling the position of Serge Aurier. The latter has been linked with the move to AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen.
In case of Aurier's transfer, Mourinho will either need to bring new replacement for the defender or focus on the club players. And it seems the Lilywhites boss is eager to play Gedson in a new position.
Speaking to
Spurs’ official website, the Portuguese boss said:
“Gedson played right-back for the first time and he was really, really good.
In the first half we had some very good combinations.”
